What is the meaning of life? Countless individuals before you have pondered this profound question, often contemplating it until their last breath, when the answer may finally become clear.
At its core, life is a test—a measure of how your actions impact the quality of your existence. Consider this: why is it that when you do something good, you feel uplifted, while dishonest actions leave you feeling guilty?
You don’t need to be a saint to lead a fulfilling life. If you earnestly seek the meaning of life, you’ll likely discover that it’s already been instilled within you.
You might ask, what about the atrocities in the world? Such horrors exist because a significant number of individuals choose to do wrong. This imbalance means that truly good people are often outnumbered. But why should that deter you from being good? A life rooted in kindness and integrity is far more rewarding than one built on harm and deceit. Don’t just take my word for it—experience it for yourself.
Wars, hunger, poverty, and oppression stem from the actions of those who wish to exploit the vulnerable. No one should have to start life at a disadvantage, yet many do. People may say, “That’s life,” but the truth is, many of these hardships arise from the greed of those who prioritize profit over people.
Consider this: the United States produces enough food each year to feed the world’s population three times over. This is not an isolated situation—many other nations also have surplus resources. The reality is, there is no food shortage.
Similarly, there is no shortage of oil. Countless oil tankers remain anchored offshore, their cargo held back by companies seeking maximum profit. If oil-producing nations flooded the market, prices would plummet, and job creation would surge. With enough resources, we could eliminate poverty and ensure everyone lives above the poverty line.
It’s important to recognize that not everyone will find employment due to various circumstances—illness, age, injury, or systemic barriers. A 100% employment rate is unattainable. However, we live in a world so affluent that no one should be left in want. The resources available today could provide every individual with food, housing, land, and the basic necessities of life.
Yet, this is not our reality. Much of the world is plagued by individuals who prioritize power and control over the welfare of others, leading to conflict among themselves.
So, life is a test. The question remains: how will you respond? What will you choose to do with your time here?
